Fybroids in the womb? tummy troubles

I had a baby 29 months ago, only one and I have been suffering ever since down below.
I didn't have a period until she was about 9 months because I breast fed and when they started they were very painful and very very heavy. I put this down to the fact that i hadn't had one for so long my body was clearing itself out. However, my daughter is now 29 months old, my periods are getting heavier and heavier, longer and longer, stomach cramps so painful i am doubled up in pain. Been to Drs and have become aneamic due to amount of blood loss. I have fainted a couple of times and they think I may have fybroids in my womb. I have had blood tests and now waiting for ultrasound.
What does this mean. anyone out there had them, got them, know about them? I have discharge alot of the time, non smelling, watery discharge incredible tummy pain fairly often and I am pale and tired almost all the time. whats the best treatment? not sure how i feel about hysterectomy at 31

Hi, my mum has fibroids so I know a little bit about it.

there are alternative treatments available to hysterectomy.
1)Mirena coil (not sure if that just masks the symptoms rather than cures the fibroid though)
2)myectomy (an op to get rid of the fibroid)
3)endometrial ablation (an op that sort of zaps away part of the womb lining to get rid of the fibroids), you can only have this if you don't want any more hcildren.

what they recommend may vary depending on the size/position of the fibroids.

thankyou, I have looked at some erbsites and people seem to discuss the Mirena a lot but it doesn't sound altogether appealing, Some have even said they had it and then asked for a hysterectomy instead. I guess I will find out more once my scan and results come back, Just interested to know what peoples experiences are of thsi
