Mirena coil- how long did you bleed for?

I had a mirena fitted nearlt 3 months ago as ds (8m) is breast fed. I've bled probably 90% of the time since, not heavy but quite annoying and I'm having very slight period paind with it so it's not easy to forget about. I think I had a period about 3 weeks ago, bleeding was heavier, but I really expected it to have eased off before now. Was I being optomistic? Think we'll ttc in about a year but if this bleeding doesn't halt then I'll go back on the pill when ds is off the breast. All experiences please! TIA

I spotted for about 3 and a half months and was starting to get really fed up and then it stopped. When I went for the check my GP said I was lucky it had stopped so quickly. So hang in there it may stop soon.

had mine for 2 years, spotting for first 6 weeks, then very loght periods for 6 months and nothing since hooray!!!

I am now on my 2nd merina coil. My first, which I had for 5 years, was excellent - no pain during or after it was fitted (so no pain killers necessary), no bleeding, no pain, no weight gain. This was replaced in December 2005 and the pain was awful, and I still have spotting, backache, tiredness and I have gained about a stone. Don't know why it hasn't been successful this time but certainly seriously thinking about having it removed.
