Hair loss

Hi all,

Did any of you have quite abit of hair loss after birth? DD is 12 weeks but last week I was in the shower and felt something run down my back. I looked to the floor and it was quite a sizeable hair clump. Since then I have been finding hair everywhere and when I brush it etc the brush gets covered. There aren't any bold patches that I can see but it's definitely ALOT thinner. Without sounding vain, I am totally sh*tting myself.

I'm assured by mother that its fairly normal after birth - did it happen to any of you and when did it stop falling out?

x

There was another thread about this recently. Will see whether I can find it.

It is quite common to lose a lot of hair. Don't worry unless you do get a bald patch. I'm sure you're keeping an eye on it.

Couldn't find it but found this one

It's not uncommon. My hair, on the other hand, faded to a strange light orangey brown colour when pregnant ( then went back to dark brown with grey bits)

I lost huge amounts. Handfuls. Kept having to unblock the shower. I was very worried but my hairdresser says it's what happens to many post-pregnancy ( as you dont lose your hair much during pregnancy). The hairdresser pointed out to me new growth. I have a full thick mane and I never looked like it was thinning.

You lot are brilliant. Thank you for your replies and link to the other thread.

It sounds like it is normal so I'm not so panicked anymore. I also lost around half my blood just after birth and had transfusions etc but my iron levels are still low so it all makes sense now! X

Hiya Starsmummy, I had hair loss after giving birth to my little Angel Charlotte who is now 18 months old. My GP recommended a medication called Dianette, are you familiar with that?? I've been taking it over a year and it has done wonders for hair re-growth!!! I cant say enough good things about it and my skin is better too. I'd suggest having a read up on it from where i get mine from : www.medical-specialists.co.uk/female.php

Good luck Smile
