What is this itchy rash?

I've had an itchy rash at the very top of my inner thigh for a couple of weeks. It's just where the leg meets groin, sort of on the knicker line. The rash is almost semi-circular and the skin is raised. It doesn't itch all the time, maybe just a couple of times a day, and it's worse at night (which is why I'm up now). I've been putting E45 on it twice a day just to see if that helped and if it was just dry skin of some kind, but it's not making any difference. Any ideas what it might be and if I need to go to a doctor - I can't really get there until next week as it's not an emergency, but when it itches, boy does it itch!

Ringworm possibly? It says on Nhs that the groin is a common area.

Possibly ringworm or a form of candidas intertrigo (similar to thrush)

Both can be treated by an antifungal cream - you can buy clotrimazole cream over the counter at a pharmacy (also known as Canesten).

Have a look at this wiki page about 'groin itch', there's a pic for comparison and lots of info.

Thanks all - I'll take a look and probably go to the chemist at lunchtime to see if there's anything I can get. It doesn't look like "groin itch" though so I'll see what the pharmacist suggests.
