i am breastfeeding....DD is 14 wks and i thought your periods were put on hold......no not me, (sorry if too much info)................but did anyone have problems using tampons after childbirth? i am finding it really uncomfortable and i have had to resort to pads. i had a few stiches but nothing major, i thought all was ok now...

It takes a long time for everything to get back to normal jaysfirst - it will feel a little tender there for a while. You may find that by the time your next period comes round it will be more comfy. however if you are at all worried that you are not healing properly, don't be afraid to get your stitches checked out.

Hi JF, my periods returned pretty swiftly after birth but I ended up having to have a caesarian so can't help you with stitches down there type questions. Didn't want this to drop off active convos though so.....bump!

I am breastfeeding too and ds is 7 1/2 months. My periods have just returned. Haven't tried tampons again yet as I feel a bit nervous about it so am sticking with pads.

Jaysfirst · 08/04/2006 22:58

hi all, i dont have stiches anymore, they went after the first few weeks, but i guess its just the aftermath of them thats making me feel uncomfortable. Will stick with pads for the time being!
BTW... i thought that periods werent supposed to happen whilst BF.... i must be one of the unlucky ones!

It's like the bermuda triangle of the fanny

lovemygirl · 09/04/2006 20:33

I had a period at 5 weeks and GP said it was fine to use a tampon as long as lochia had stopped in between

Jaysfirst · 09/04/2006 21:40

lol@ bermuda triangle.....

i however seem to be having the opposite problem, in that the tampon doesnt want to 'go sailing' and only loiters around the harbour............if you get my drift!!! Anyway have resorted to always ultra for the time being and pray that i dont get another period, or if i do , hope that all has returned to normal next time!

( hope that wasnt too much info, i tried not to be graphic...!)
