Low blood sugar or diabetes

Hope someone can help here.

My DS is very active, always running around but on Sunday we went out for lunch an when we arrived he said he was too tired to walk to the pub. After eating though he was running around again.

Then on Wednesday morning he woke up and at breakfast he was so tired and sleepy i had to feed him 2 bowls of porridge and 2 slices of toast and thenm he was jumping on the beds again.

I later found out he had had no tea the night before.

Is this just low blood sugar or should we get him tested for diabetes? My mum says we should get him checked.

Do any of your kids go like this if they don't eat. Neither of my other 2 are as active as him.

Untreated diabetes results in high blood sugar, not low, but that can make you feel tired and run-down. Tbh, he'd prob look pretty ill and be feeling crap if it was diabetes.

Maybe he's too busy running around to remember to eat?

I would see the doctor though, just to be sure it's nothing to worry about.

does he have other symptoms like going to the toilet a lot?

a check is just a very quick very small prick on his finger - you could even get it done at a pharmacy

hope everything is ok x

He doesn;t have any other symptoms - just seems to need regular fuelling and dips a if he doesn't get fed.

No frequent urinating, no thirst.

He does have dry skin which can be a symptom.

i have fainting feelings and sore stomach, get very irritable if i dont eat regularly. ive been checked for diabetes several times, dr just said i have to make sure i dont miss a meal

maybe your ds is the same? its a pita but as long as he eats 3 meals a day he should be fine (if he is the same as me)
