Infected upper wisdom tooth coming out tomorrow...is it awful ?

I'm shitting it. Ive been told a few times it will be fine but I'm still terrified.
The dentist referred me to the hospital as he felt I may need a general as the roots are twisted. However, oral surgeon at the hospital took an x ray and assured me he could get it out using a local

I said ok but now i'm terrified. It hurts A LOT at the moment and I am sick of the pain so in a way i'm looking forward to it being gone.

What will happen ? Will it be healed by Monday so i can go to work ?

When I had an infected wisdom tooth out it was BLISS. Best thing ever.

I was 17 and took 1 day off school but was fine after that.

I had 2 more (non infected but causing issues) taken out last year at 9am. I was fit to bring children skating by 5pm.

It coming out at 1:30pm I have to take the kids to church at 6:30pm !! I thought I was being optimistic, perhaps not then ?

The facial pain after is bad but just keep yourself dosed up on codeine for a couple of days and take it easy... The joy of not having that infected throbbing tooth far outweighs the pain.

I've had a top wisdom tooth out under local. It was fine. They have to use a bit of force (they're rather big) and its achy once the local wears off but manageable with good pain killers.
I went straight back to work but got sent home when the swelling came up, had the next day off then went back in.

I had an infected lower wisdom tooth out last night under general.

Either way, the relief is immense.

No more pain and I've got very little swelling and bruising. I'll be going to work on Monday.

I'd plan to take it fairly easy for a day or so after if I were you.

I had two lower wisdoms out, one easy to remove, one really badly impacted: both extractions were no bother at all and I had no real pain worth speaking of afterwards, other than a slightly bruised feeling (with the difficult one.)

It's worth having them out as, as you've just discovered, an infected wisdom tooth is nae picnic!

You'll be fine: remember no hot drinks afterwards for 24 hours as this could dissolve the clot that forms over the wound to protect it. Then lots of warm salt water mouthwashes to keep things clean whilst it all heals up.

I've had an upper wisdom tooth out with local that had twisted roots it was fine.

Dp had a lower one out that grew with the nerve exposed! He had to be cut into his cheek, he went to work the next day and felt so bad he had to come home. He doesn't take pain/illness well though!

I'm terrified of dentists and needles and had a lower wisdom out. It was alright actually! Once the injection takes you won't feel anything aside from some pulling, it can be a bit achy on the other side of jaw from keeping mouth open. Mine didn't want to come out so they had to drill in half.
I've healed great and hole almost gone now, had a bit if bleeding the first day, nothing the next day, no bruising, bit of achy jaw, some swelling, didn't need any pain relief.
Get lots of soups and soft comfort foods in for a week or so afterwards. Be careful with area, nothing too hot or cold, don't swill/rinse too vigorously, gently hold salt water in mouth a couple of days after extraction - the aim is not to dislodge the blood clot that will have formed in hole, this is the healing process. If find you're in very bad pain, go straight back to dentist as may have dislodged blood clot, they can help with this straight away.
