Has anyone had a uterine septum resected?

I copies this from the conception thread.

I wasn’t sure where to post this. I have to make a decision on whether to have my uterine septum resected. I found out that I had one when just pregnant with ds. I had no problems during the pregnancy, except that ds was in a rather odd position, and was born by elective caesarean. I was extremely stressed about the potential risks during the pregnancy though, and am dreading to go through this again. I have seen a consultant who has told me that he would not advise me to have it resected (based on my history – no m/c, no preterm labour, etc.), but that if I wanted to he would do it (I think he realised that I have real problems with the idea of being pregnant with the septum again, although ds is 2 now and I really want another baby). I find it very difficult to decide what to do: I worry about creating problems by having the operation (after all, I did have a successful pregnancy with my womb the way it is), but I also worry that I was just lucky last time, and am in for a lot of heartbreak if I don’t have it sorted out. Has anyone been in this position? What did you do?

Hi Kael,

Firstly congratulations in conceving. I am 36 and never been able to get pregnant. I just come back from the Gynaecologist to find I had a urinal septum. And on the left uterus there was a lump, remove and a mirena place in the right. My hormones are so disfunctional. I have PCOS and an Underactive thyroid. It's impossible to loose any weight. I'm naturally active, but bleed constantly and am very tired a lot of the time. They tell me I can still get pregnant even though I have given all hope as my left is in working order. It is very emotional being a women and not a lot of people really understand. Best of luck the best we can do is just stay on top of the doctors appointments and check things regularly have your own health care plan as well as the doctors. I did and at last I now know.
