wheezing & hard to breathe :'( any1 else???

I have taken my preventive inhaler as per norm. I've been so wheezy & breathless for the past day. inhalers dnt seem to doing much. am taking amoxillin at the moment for d flu dat doesn't seem to want to go away.... any one else having the same kinda symptoms. I think the air is very thick at the moment & causing me to be like this ( a lot wheezier then usual).

if it gets worse I think I should consider visiting the g.p again on Monday but am thinking just see the course of anti-biotics through first!

any1 else more breathless then usual???

You can use the inhaler again, sounds like you should do this. If you need to use it more then twice an hour you should get checked out by the out of hours.

thanks ladymarychristmas. I use my preventer twice a day usually but don't tend to have to use the reliver all that much but already today I've used it 3 times. I'll keep an eye on it I don't think it will get to the stage of twice an hour tbh but if it does I'll speak to out of hours.

I think I need to keep a bowl of water in my room to act as a humidifier tonight. I've not had the need to get one but it may be time to think about investing in one now!

It's better to place a damp towel on your radiator, a bowl doesn't really do much.

Do call NHS direct if you're worried, they are better qualified.

I would go back to your GP or OOH surgery. If you're very wheezy and breathless you might need a course of steroids.

yeah orangeflute I might need to go OOH as my breathing seems to be getting worse. just used inhaled again & hoping I'll calm Down :(

so manage to get through last night.... woke up breathless a few times but inhalers helped. still very whereby this morning so going to OOH now. think it's best to get myself checked out!!!

DH is totally in control of his asthma by following the Buteyko method (which basically is keeping your mouth closed.) Also giving up ALL dairy foods try it and see how it goes

Lol ppeatfruit u made my day with ur comment :) I dnt have any dairy products & drink lactose free milk as well already as I have many food allergies anyway.

the only thing I have that maybe dairy is chocolate - I'm a sucker for it..... "give it up u say" no way dude I'd rather not breathe

I'm not a Doctor, but I have brittle asthma.

nettospookerstar yeah apparently no infection & asked me to continue my inhalers but increase puffs as required... didn't give me any steroids either as they said it would interact with my regular meds. been told to go back to my G.P on Monday & get a complete asthma check up.

in the meantime been told if I have to use my reliver ten times in an hour & am still wheezy call 999! I would have anyway so a bit of a waste of time tbh :(

If you are still wheezy it may be better to go to A&E to have a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia. You don't always have fever with pneumonia.

Have you heard of Buteyko pain? It works very well

Breathing seems to be controlled today so I think I'm over the worst of it but the night has just started so keeping my fingers, toes & whatever else crossed for an easy night!

Y 'know what about the chocolate? I buy the 70% stuff and make rice milk choc with it for DH (and me I don't touch dairy 'cos as soon as i do i get horrible hay fever symptoms.) I love chocolate too but am quite happy with the dark.

The Buteyko is miraculous IMO! Congrats. for getting into it

hmmm dat does sound yummy i myt need to start thinking about change in my chocolate habit... Holland & barretts have just opened up on our high street I'll have to pop in :)

OMG I just remembered there's a 'White" chocolate that's non dairy and it's a lot nicer than the dairy one it's so nice that I don't buy it regularly 'cos I eat too much of it !

I can't remember the manuf. name, might be Plamil which has improved a lot lately. Good luck with H & B I find the independent H.F. shops have a better selection of foods than them.
