ds2 (2.6) had chocolate ice cream for pudding this evening, had it all over his face when he finished. He started rubbing his eye .we washed his face and i saw that his eye was quite puffy. he's been bathed now and it's at least 2 hours since he had it yet his eye is still swollen. He can't open it fully but it's not closed up.
really worried-what should i do?

aaw bless, we've all got hayfever (ds, dd & me) so I'm used to sudden swelling puddingy eyes, but when they're tiny it does look like they've done ten rounds in the ring!

no I'm not its just that for some reason anything and everything seems to irritate our eyes! (me and kids) pollen, cat hair, fluff, grit, sugar, you name it!

katyrocks · 03/04/2006 21:52

ok, you're very welcome, I hope ds is just fine tomorrow x

I had to step away for a bit alexsmum. Glad to hear it's going down. If it was a localized allergic reaction, I'm thinking perhaps he had something else on his hands when he was rubbing, or perhaps the ice cream, it can certainly cause a quick and dramatic amount of swelling. It sounds like you are being reasonable with it.

fwiw, I'm an optometrist in the US. If it does get red, painful, or begins to crust over, get it checked out. Otherwise, just continue to watch and use OTC meds for discomfort.
