Night sweats anyone?

Every funking night, drenching with sweat running off me. They wouldn't bother me so much if I could sleep through them but I can't. Been going on for a few years, I've seen my GP, a specialist at the hospital & they can't say why, only that I don't have TB or cancer.

Is it only me? So tired.

Night sweats are common during the peri-menopause and menopause. Mine stopped with HRT

CrispyHedgehog · 15/11/2012 08:53

I have this too... been tested and it's not peri or menopause

I do have a memory foam mattress which seems to get very hot and I've been wondering if it could be that

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 15/11/2012 08:56

I get them too - grim. Thought it was just a postnatal thing but still going on 9 months later.

NervousAt20 · 15/11/2012 08:57

I get them occasionally but hoping it is just a post natal thing and will go away

nickynackynoodle · 15/11/2012 09:03

I'm 29 and no DCs, I get it wherever I sleep as well, hot or cold!!

How miserable nicky I get them a fair bit but then I'm 52 so it's obviously peri-menopause in my case. Do you notice them being more frequent just before or at the beginning of your period? Mine definitely coincide with the week before I come on. I don't know what to suggest though sadly and can only sympathise because they're are very wearing indeed.

An over active thyroid can cause night sweats.

CountryBelle · 15/11/2012 20:25

Nicky, have u ever went to doc? Im 26 and get them every night. Hateful! Havent been to doc as dont want to be told theres something wrong with me. Silly i know!

gerbilsarefun · 15/11/2012 20:33

Like Walnut I would say an overactive thyroid could cause this (I suffer with one). We slept on a memory foam mattress once in a holiday cottage. It was awful, really hot (this was before my overactive thyroid).

Walnutcakelover · 15/11/2012 21:14

I was having terrible night sweats before I was diagnosed with an over active thyroid. Are you having any other symptoms?

ElectricSoftParade · 15/11/2012 21:17

Has your GP organised a hormone level test? Your post made me think of how I was while peri-menopausal/menopausal. I kept being told I was too young to be peri but turned out I had had the "change".

The sweats were horrible and hope you find a solution soon.

No other symptoms. My periods are normal, I gave up on the GP last time but I've got a new one so I'm going back in a couple of weeks. What other symptoms should I be aware of for thyroid or menopause?
