I used to take microgynon and didn't have any problems except slight weight gain. When I went to the doc last year he suggested I take cerazette as I'm over 35 (don't smoke tho). I tried it for 3 months, but wasn't sure about it as you don't have a break! Had no periods while on it, just slight spotting. Finished in Jan and was waiting for my period before going back to ask for a different pill. Am still waiting! Have always been regular before (except when pg of course). Has anyone else had this? Thinking of seeing the doc about it. Have done a pg test which was neg.

Can't help you traceyshep. I've been taking cerazette since having dd 9 months ago and my periods have just come back. I've had two in 2.5 weeks with full on cramping - most miserable. They're incredibly light, just damn sore and uncomfortable.

It's a very low dose pill and because it's the mini pill (ie only one hormone) it's able to be taken without a break. Microgynon is a combined pill.

I just threw out the instruction leaflet otherwise I'd have a dig through for you.

I was told to expect spotting, but I'm still breastfeeding so everything's bound to be weird!

I threw out my instructions as well! I expected weird things to happen while I was still taking it, but the doc who prescribed it said if I stopped I'd have a heavier period afterwards... no sign of any yet tho and I stopped taking it in Jan!

Traceyshep - my periods always stop when I'm taking the mini- pill (well maybe have 2 incredibly light bleeds in a year) same with the mirena coil which has the same hormone. Interestingly I've just started taking cerazette again as I'm bf a 2 month old baby and my periods have come back (really heavy but not painful). This has amazed me as I've never had periods whilst exclusively bf before. I've always got pregnant very quickly (ie before a period) whenever I've stopped taking it. I would go back and see someone anyway to reassure you - try the family planning clinic, they usually know more than your GP.
