Chickenpox - how common is it really to get it twice, properly?

Dd had it without a doubt last year - fairly badly and has a couple of fading scars on her shoulder and eyebrow to prove it. She was 1 and 3/4 at the time.
It's rife at nursery again and tonight I am appalled to see six or seven pink pimples on her body...they could be just little spots...they do also look like pre-blister chickenpox spots :( :(
I thought the only children who got it twice tended to have had it really mildly, or when they were small babies under one year. Am I wrong?
Has anyone else here's child had the full monty twice - and both times as a toddler?

from what I have read it is very rare to get chicken pox twice as you get a lifelong immunity to it from the first time you have it - if they do get it it tends to be a milder form of it. You can however get shingles if you have had chicken pox before although you cant get shingles FROM contact with chicken pox.

It is fairly rare to get multiple infections, although a 2nd mildish dose is quite common.

I am one of the unlucky ones with no immunity and catch it very easily. Unfortunately it looks like my kids might follow me as DS1 (8) has now had it 3 times.

Well my fathe has had it 7 times i think

3 times as an adult while i have ben alive (The ONLY times i can ever recall him being "ill")

My 3 year old charge has had it twice PROPERLY already.... in fact i have come across a LOT of people who have had it properly more than once.

I have had it twice, although the first time was fairly mild.

I have had it twice though the first time I was just 6 weeks old so don't know if the younger you are the less likely you get all immunity?
