Hi there, just joined mumsnet cos i'm feeling frustrated by the doctors and hoping someone out there might have some advice!
18 year old daughter has developed full body rash with severe red, dry, spots from ears to ankles! She has now had this undiagnosed condition for 4 weeks, had to give up her job as a cocktail waitress and return home. Doctors said firstly it's not fungal cos it's too wide spread, a few days later maybe it's fungal! cream supplied just made it worse, went with her to insist doctor did something, and we were sent to A&E. Nurse thought it might be measles so put in isolation, finally seen after 4 hours but because her blood pressure and heart rate were OK they acknowledged rash was very serious but were unable to treat as an emergency and said it was doctors duty of continuous care! Returned to doctors to insist on referal to a dermatoligist and some medication. Doc prescribed a steroid cream which actually helped but she got through a full tube in a day applied twice daily! Returned to doc for more cream and to request blood tests, again had to insist blood works need doing and finally got an appointment for 2 weeks time! Doc wouldn't prescribe more steroid cream yes I know there can be side effects but it's the only thing which seemed to help! However,doc prescribed selsun dandruff shampoo????? as a body wash and to leave on overnight. ````this has caused her skin to crack in the crease of her elbow and looks like a bad burn or scold. Feeling frustrated with doctors' attitude, not knowing is one thing but not doing is a different matter!! Meanwhile my beautiful girl who was working during her gap year has lost her job, boyfriend and confidence.
