Episiotomy cauterised - anyone else had this?

The episiotomy that I thought wasn't healing had apparently healed a bit too much (over-granulated). Had a gynae appt today and she cauterised the extra tissue with silver nitrate and then twisted it off. Has anyone else had this done? If so, what can I expect in terms of how long to stop hurting, how long to heal, how long before we could safely have sex if we had the energy (12-wk-old DD is a wonderful contraceptive!), is anything likely to go wrong, etc.? The doctor was a bit vague and just said it would all be fine and to massage it before sex if I was worried.
