Should a smear test do this?

My DD is almost 1Yo. I had a smeartest last week. The GP seems to have found it very awkward to get those torture instruments to the right place and it was horid.
Following the test I seem to have stress incontinance Blush. It's as bad as it was post birth. Is this normal? Should I follow it up or just keep on with the exercises?
