Would you say it was ok to eat a tin of soup with exp date 01/2006?

I just warmed a tin of my fave mulligatawny up, and am debating before I tuck in! Found it at the back of the cupboard, and I don't normally let things go out of date!

Is it an expiry or a Best Before?

Quality might be slightly lacking but doubt that it would be 'off' unless can was damaged.

And I never buy damaged cans, so no danger there!

I strongly advise you to go to A&E after eating it, just to be on the safe side.

Hehehe!! Well, I've eaten it, and it was pretty damn tasty, I must say. I think it was much better that I ate it, rather than dh, with his lowered immune system, don't you ?

they say you could eat tins of bean etc made during the war. (ie 1940's!)

They wouldnt hurt you but the nutriotional analysis may not ne exactly the same
