I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my dd has bad breath, i dont think she has a sore throat, she has had a cold for the last 12 days but I notcied it before that. She only started on solids at 7 months and only has 2 teeth with top one slightly showing so we have still not got atround to brushing her teeth. i let her play with it to make her like it but she wont let me put it near her mouth and when she puts it in she holds it no where near her teeth. had anyone got any tips on brushing teeth?

When dd was that little I just used to wipe her teeth with a flannel (and let her chew on the flannel)

But bad breath can be a sign of other illness (especially of a tummy bug). If she doesn't seem ill, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but possibly a check up would be in order? Could also be that she is having problems digesting something i suppose - is it worse when she eats anything in particular?

hello

tummy bug... i didnt think about that. she did have loose stools the other day and her poos have been a strange colour, kind of grey.

Ad she has a cold she has gone off food and will only eat pureed fruits so maybe thats given her an upset tummy which may be her breath.

Just thought I'd revive this one as my DS has had bad breath for the past two days. Seems to be tied in with me giving him pureed cabbage for the first time, which he didn't like (blugh! me too!) and kept bringing back up throughout the day. He's eaten well today and hasn't been sickie, but the bad breath is still there..

What are the other signs for a tummy bug? Is there anything else I can do or just keep an eye on it? He hasn't had a cold recently.

Have revived this v. old thread as my 7 month yr old is the same. I'm wondering if it's the chicken she's recently been introduced to. She had fennel today for the first time. Hope its not a bug. She did do 5 poos today and some were as rank as an adult's.
