Anyone's baby/toddler had an operation for hydroceles??

My ds2 had a hydrocele on his scrotum when he was tiny which was checked and went away on its own. Now at 21 months he has two - one on each side. I have an appointment next week to see the GP about it, but I have looked online and it seems he will need an op to correct. Anyone else been through this?

DS1 had an unusually late hydrocele which developed last year at 6.5. He had it drained and sutured last November. Minor operation in day surgery, though it has left an inch scar on his groin - it's fading now.

He missed 2 days of school (operation and day after) and PE/swimming for a week. Quite a bit of groin pain, but they gave Calpol and ibuprofen on discharge.

He's just had his follow-up check-up and all is fine.

Let me know if you want any more info. Sorry to hear you've got to go through this, but it is pretty straightforward it seems.
