Ever since I was pregnant with DD ive had piles. After the initial breakthoughGrin they are no longer painful but after 2 years of having them id like to get rid of them. Im too embarrased to got to the gp's but wondered if anyone else had suffered for a while or if they have gone how did they go ie what treatment is there available.

Hi,
I've had piles since having DS (6). Have 3 children now and they got worse with each one.
My doc has said that I can get them removed if they are painful (they are !). I'm holding off as I'd like one more baby then get sorted out once and for all.
I did use Anusol suppositries (can't spell)between pregnancies which eased them a bit.
It is an embarressing issue but it is worth getting sorted.
Good luck.

I had them with DD! but not with DD2 partly cause I attended to my diet more and used glycerin (sp)suppositories if I felt at all constipated, so avoiding straining and making them worse. On the whole now, they seem to have gone but probably would reappear if I became constipated again. I read somewhere to do pelvic floor exercises to tighten up all that area and make the muscles around the perineum more effective.
