Chest pain - prob indigestion....

Been feeling a bit off colour for the last week or so (gave up smoking 10 days ago so put it down to that). Just a bit nauseous and tired.

Woke up last night with severe cramps in my upper tummy (between boobs and waist) which eased off over a couple of hours.

Fine this morning apart from feeling really sick but since lunch I have been getting really sharp pain in my chest and upper body - at its worse its going through from my breast bone to may back under my shoulders. It also feels like something is stuck in my chest as if I've swallowed food which hasn't gone down all the way iyswim. Also have a bit of a headache.

It is just indigestion isn't it? Whats the best thing to take so I can try and get some sleep tonight.

yes, it's probably indigestion but...I think you should get it checked out. I ignored a pain like that and guess what it was a heart attack.
They do happen to premenopausal non smoking non overweight women.

No pain in arm and no crushing feeling in my chest tho.

Nearest a&e is 20 miles away, dh won't be home till early hours and I have 4 dcs asleep upstairs......

Does it radiate from the bit where the ribs go up in the middle? I get pain there occasionally - radiates across my chest and back - but its only ever at night. I feel nauseous the next day. Painkillers and a heat pack on my chest tend to see it off as the drs havent been able to diagnose me.

Oh, just saw last bit. If its indigestion milk is good, if you dont have any zantac / gaviscon etc

no, I didn't either. Apparantly for women, a heart attack often doesn't have the usual 'picture'.

Probably gallbladder but you should get checked.

Sounds like a gall bladder issue to me...nausea, extreme indigestion, shoulder/back pain. I'm suffering the same myself on and off and really do need to see GP.

blue it seems to start at my breast bone and "runs" round my ribs to the side while it goes through to my back and then spreads under my shoulder blades iyswim.

Shalli have phoned him and hes going to try and get back. hopefully its not.

Think I'm going to have some milk (no gaviscon in the house since my last pg) and go to bed and see how I feel when dh comes in.

Sounds like how I felt before I had my gallbladder out. Horrendously painful. The only thing that eased it was a fairly hot hot water bottle on the area.

Hope you're feeling a smidge better this morning Ghoul, did you phone the docs? The pain can be horrendous so it feels like a heart attack.

I only know all this as my DMum had same a couple of years ago and had her gall bladder out, now, lo and behold I've had 3 attacks in the last couple of months. Fat free or low fat diet is required, plenty of fibre and diclofenac for the pain!

Fwiw when I'm having an attack, the pain goes away almost instantly if I vomit, sorry tmi I know, but it's true!

Haven't been to the docs yet - pain has gone and I'm just left with a sick feeling now. I was at the hospital for a physio appointment earlier and mentioned it to them but they didn't seem to worried. May just monitor it for a while......

If it happens again I will phone docs - just don't want to be running down with a bad case of heartburn

I'm sure they'd much rather you ran down there with a bad case of heartburn than ignore something serious ya know

And bad heartburn is no joke anyway...so either way it can't hurt to get it checked out.
