she didnt have any symptoms of anything, but now she is burning up. her pupils seem very big (the black bit), and she is dopey as well now.

Have you called the Dr? Sounds like a combination you need to get checked out.

Feistybird · 24/03/2006 20:38

how old?

Calista · 24/03/2006 20:43

Normally I would just say dose her up with Calpol and see how she goes through the night, ditto with dopeyness as a high temp can make them that way. But the pupils thing sounds odd. I'd phone NHS direct initially.

misdee · 24/03/2006 20:53

Is there any possibility that she has got hold of any medecines?

madmarchhare · 24/03/2006 21:02

NHS Direct do a \link{http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/selfhelpguide/\selfhelpguide}

misdee · 24/03/2006 21:07

no chance of her getting hold of medicines.

have acalled NHS direct, they are calling back within an hour.

she is now more responsive after having neurofen.

H0ow old is she Misdee?

The first things I spring to mind are plenty of fluids and Calpol for temperature. Have you taken her temperature?
It's getting late so maybe a good night's sleep would help? Maybe see how she is in the morning before contacting dr?
Obviously you are mum and you are there. Follow your instincts.
Hope she feels better soon.

SPARKLER1 · 24/03/2006 21:11

Don't know about your area but we have a LOT of chickenpox going on through dds schools at the moment. Sometimes this can start off with temperature and feeling unwell. Any chance she may have been in contact with this?

madmarchhare · 24/03/2006 21:12

The fact that they didnt stick you straight on to a nurse and that they are calling back is good I suppose. Try not to worry too much. Its a pain when they are tired though.

think we'l lbe off to the gp in the morning.

why is dd2 always ill? its awful.

OP posts:
misdee · 24/03/2006 22:25

well they have called. said that as she is responsive atm, and temp is finally coming down, there is no need to dash off down the docs. obviously if i am worried then to call back. they asked if she was in any pain other than her eyes, i had to explain that last time dd2 had a bad ear infection she barely uttered a word. its so hard trying to tell whats wrong with her at times.
