Ihad the coil put in at the end of oct/beginning of nov - sorry this is discusting

i had a sort of persid a couple of days after having it put in.

I then started my period again on 20th december

i had a normalish period up until xmas eve

from then onwards i have bled really really bad - so bad i have had a couple of accidents with clothes and i'm having to change my pad every 45mins.

is this normal or should i be worried.

It has slowed down a little 2-day but not alot

Am wondering if i have made a mistake having this put in

any advice apreciated

Yeah, but not totally reliable, is it?

clairabelle · 07/01/2004 20:05

Hope you're feeling ok FD, sounds like you've had an awful time. My GP had just about talked me into this, I think not, I'm anaemic enough already!

popsycal · 07/01/2004 20:05

reliable if you dont do it

zebra · 07/01/2004 20:12

Clairabelle: I think that on the hormonal IUD then you often don't get periods at all... it's the non-hormonal IUD I had which led to extended periods for me, too. I am unsure whether FD had the hormonal type (slowly releases progesterone, like being on the mini-pill, but you can't forget to take it!) or non-hormonal. I am toying with idea of hormonal IUD, actually, if I could take the unpleasantness of getting it inserted.

ps: FD, DH is currently bribing me with wine to get me in the mood, ha!

Lisa78 · 08/01/2004 20:02

FD, what did the GP say about you taking it out yourself?

fairydust · 08/01/2004 21:10

he wasn't that mad actually lisa - he said the reason i was able to take it out was because it was already commnig out.
