Okay. Where to start. Basically. Me and DP don't have sex very often, but the past two times we have tried, I have had to stop and get off because down there starts stinging really quite badly. Last night was the most recent occurrence, and even after getting off and stopping, the stinging continued for at least 5 minutes afterwards.

This doesn't happen when I go for a wee or anything, and I try to be quite clean down there and occasionally use baby shampoo (its PH neutral so figure its okay) to wash the outside bit, I don't go on the insides if that makes sense?

So could it be a yeast infection or similar, should I visit GP?

I'm not sure baby shampoo is the best thing to wash with, PH neutral or not. I think a visit to the doctor would be the best thing to do. Hope everything is ok.

Yes it could easily be thrush. I used to get it a lot, years ago when I was young... no itching, no discharge, just pain after sex.

I knew what it was when I went for an STI check up and they said I had thrush. (nothing else thankfully!)

You could try some clotrimazole cream and see if it makes a difference.

I don't find that washing the outside with soap/shower stuff or whatever makes any difference, though you could try just using water and see if it helps.

Ds and dh both have sensitive skin and baby shampoo always makes them itch, I don't think it's as gentle as the adverts claim

Isn't natural yoghurt in the fanjo supposed to help?

Urine infection? Definitely ditch the baby shampoo,my hairdresser told me they advise people to use it to strip out hair dye gone wrong! My son's cradle cap disappeared when we ditched the Johnson's unbelievabley. Dr advised me plain water is all you need to wash 'down there'. Would def suggest a visit to the Dr given that this has just started.

I've suffered from cystitis & thrush and have found doing the above,avoiding perfumed bubble bath, going for a wee after sex, not getting dehydrated & not drinking to much alcohol/tea have really helped. All v dull & I don't always stick to it!

Don't be embarassed,your Dr will have heard it all a million times before! Hope you get it sorted!

I really don't know my lovely, guess it depends if you've only just started using it around the same time as noticing the pain? Lubricant is another good point.

stop washing with anything. stick with water only. Use lube. Practice your pelvic floor exercises, not the ones where you squeeze everything up, but the ones where you push everything down, like you are pushing out the last bit of wee. Try doing that as he enters you. It helps sort of relax all the muscles so there is no tension. I have had terrible problems with this, saw loads of different people, had a small surgical procedure and did this exercise and things are much much better.

why on earth would you shampoo your fanny? no wonder it stings.

We did use lube.

You can get something called Femfresh to wash down there. Don't use baby shampoo. May be try done Canestem cream, a pessary & the Diflucan tablet treatment. If it works then you will know it was thrush.

Rather than stuff you're putting on your fanjo, could it be something DP is using on himself?

Good point, also if you do reckon it's thrush, then make sure he treats himself for it too or you'll just get it again.
