Dd is really run down, she has had a run of ilnees due to her immune system being all over the place because of Glandular Fever. She currently has tonsillitus and these horrible ulcers have appeared and are starting to bleed. Any remedies? God I only ever seem to be on health threads at the moment.

Would \link{http://www.myhomeremedies.com/topic.cgi?topicid=140\this} help?

Chapsmum · 22/03/2006 09:36

adcortyl in orabase. you can get it from the chemist, it forms a coating over the ulcer and helps them heal up quickly. mention her age to the pharmisist.

Thanks, think she would be more likely to go for the cocnut milk and honey one!

I did well on homeopathy with mouth ulcers - I used sulphur 30c but it depends on the exact symptoms, let me see if I can find the page. The Nelsons clickpacks from Boots are fab.

\link{http://www.publix.com/wellness/notes/Display.do?id=Homeo&childId=Canker_Sores_hm\has a summary of remedies matched to symptoms} - worth trying the one that matches closest and then switch to the next closest if no improvement.

geekgrrl · 22/03/2006 09:39

I second the adcortyl - it really works well when nothing else seems to. I hope you can get hold of it?

Orinoco · 22/03/2006 21:52

Has she been on antibiotics? apparently it's really common to get mouthulcers after anti-b's as they deplete the body of something (Iron? Zinc?)

Sorry, not much use if I can't remember! I'll speak to my boss, he knows!

lucy5 · 22/03/2006 21:54

She was on antibiotics 2 weeks ago and just started another course yesterday Shock

Why is fresh pineapple supposed to heal mouth ulcers? How much is needed daily?
1st January 2000

Fresh pineapple (from the Ananas comosus plant) is used as a traditional medicine throughout the tropics. The biological activity of pineapple comes from a family of enzymes called bromelain. Clinically, bromelain is primarily used to reduce inflammation and enhance healing (Alternative Medicine Review, 1998), so this would be the rationale behind the ingestion of fresh pineapple by people with mouth ulcers. The effects of bromelain appear to be dose-dependent, but at present there are no guidelines as to the optimum levels.
