Could my cervix be split?

I had dd 8 weeks ago. I started my period yesterday and had trouble using my mooncup. So I investigated a little and discovered my cervix was very low and forward (could feel it almost immediately) and it had a split it in end. So rather than being one solid long mass, there was a split that I could put my finger through a centimetre or two big.

That isn't normal is it? It wasn't there before.

Congratulations!

If you are comparing your cervix to how it felt pre-delivery, it could be normal. I assume (I am due in Dec and still kind of wondering if baby can actually fit out of there ) that as the cervix is a muscle, it needs some time to go back to how it was. certainly overworked muscles do get swollen and feel different than when they are not used. And I can't think of anything that would be more overwork than delivering a baby.

I'd think your Doc would have made sure you were ok, and if you haven't any symptoms of damage, it probably ok. But ring your OBGYN if you are concerned.

Hey there!

That sounds perfectly normal: the split is the hole (os), through which your baby came through! :o

The reason it feels different to before is due to it all having stretched and dropped from the pregnancy/delivery. Do lots of pelvic floor exercises and it should hopefully move upwards again!

8 weeks post delivery for your first period...? How long did you bleed for after delivery? If you'd only just stopped bleeding before this, and/or its a bit smelly, make sure you see your dr as could be infection.... :(

Should you be using a moon cup? I thought it was not recommended, and to only use towel/pads.

You can use mooncup for period, just not lochia. I bottle fed from day 5, so period is possible. I bled for maybe 4 weeks? Can't remember when it stopped, but long enough ago, at least 4 weeks. And it was very light for last 2 weeks.

I will get it checked out in case. I haven't actually had my 6 week check yet. How would I know if it wasn't my period?
