My ds 16 , is really under weight. When he eats he quite often has bad stomach pains. He also has really trembly hands all the time and looks really pale and gaunt. He seems to have started slurring his words a bit too. I have had lots of blood tests done which have shown up nothing out of the ordinary .yet I know he's not right. Any ideas ?

has he had a blood test for Coeliac? Some of the things you describe - pale, bad stomach pains, pale and guant might fit with that.

They don't often test for Coeliac as I think the blood test is more expensive than others Hmm so you might need to push for it. Worth doing though, to rule it out.

The other thing that comes to mind is an overactive thyroid gland - would fit with weight loss and shakiness. Have they tested for that?

P.S. not any kind of medical person - knowledge only based on what I've got myself - sounds like you need to go back to the GP and ask them what they're planning on doing next...

Thanks for the advice, They have tested for both coeliac and thyroid but neither came up as a problem....

Has he had a full check of his digestive system? Barium meals and that sort of thing?

justbreathe · 17/09/2012 19:39

no , do you think if it was a digestive problem it would make him trembly or could he have 2 different things wrong ? After the blood and stool tests came back clear the doctor just prescribed him vitamins and probiotics....

Lots of health issues can interlink and all of the above suggestions are sensible. Time to go back to the GP and start asking for more checks to be done. One other question, and I don't mean to be insensitive (not sure how else to ask tactfully on a forum however) but is there any chance of him being involved with drugs?
