Just wondering really as DD has bad cradle cap she also has excema and reflux. Ds had none of these things at all. My baby sister had lactose problems and excema where myself and middle sister had nothing.

Both mine had patches of craddle cap as babies but did not have reflux. They do not suffer from excema or allegies of any type, so far (they are 5 and 3 yo).

DD has eczema and dairy intolerant, had reflux but did not have cradle cap. She is 18months.

all mine had cradle cap
dd1 healthy as a ox (8y)
dd2 has sever asthma no excema (4.8y)
dd3 has a floppy larynx but no excema- not sure if she has asthma but its looking likely

hello Nemo1977... my son had bad excema and is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts.. He didn't have cradle cap..

I don't know how old your baby is but do you brush their hair, as this will loosen the cradle cap and regular brushing will keep it at bay...
even is you baby doesn't have much hair you could still brush their scalp

I never thought about it before but.. my dd2 had terrible cradle cap - and has very slight excema and asthma. My others didn't and don't.

FeelingOld · 19/03/2006 13:36

My ds had very bad cradle cap (luckily had lots of hair so not too noticable) and he suffers from eczema and asthma and he is now 5.

Nemo1977 · 19/03/2006 13:41

mmm quite interesting.

rummum DD doesnt have much hair on the top at all at the moment I havent been brushing the cradle cap as I have been putting a natural cream on as she has excema in the same places[ish] and around her forehead/face so once excema is a little better will look at brushing it, thanks for the tip.

I picked DD's cradle cap off Blush Blush her head went sort of salmon pink, but it was fine the next day Blush

DS is covered in exzema, but never had any cradle cap...DD looks like she'll be the same but has (had!!) cradle cap...then again I did massage theo all over with baby oil every day when he was her age because I was totally anal about baths and massages lol

Nemo1977 · 19/03/2006 13:55

FA I massage oil into hannah every day but it has made no difference. Bought a natural remedy cream yesterday which has worked wonders on Hs excema.
So are you allowed to pick off the cradle cap?? Must admit it doesnt look very nice..lol

i think they might be. My dd had excema, and very bad cradle cap - she is five now, and only jsut lost the bald batches. My three dss only had a few flakey bits and no excema.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 19/03/2006 14:02

Jess - cradle cap and reflux

Becky - cradle cap and nothing else!

foxinsocks · 19/03/2006 14:29

dd had horrendous cradle cap - it's only just gone and she's 5 and a half (now she just has a very dry scalp). She has eczema, asthma and allergies.

Ds had v mild cradle cap that disappeared very quickly and has nowt else wrong with him (though did have reflux as a baby).

fastasleep · 19/03/2006 14:34

I'm not sure it's allowed Blush but I did and it didn't go raw or bleed or anything horrendous... she was left with dandruff that needed a few days of brushing off...

I'm a terminal picker and just can't leave anything alone Blush

All 3 of mine had bad cradle cap, I didn't even bother getting it off the older ones until they were at least 4, but made an effort to get it off the youngest by the time he was 12m.
None of them have eczema allergies asthma or any of that.

both of mine - cradle cap - nothing else.

ernest · 20/03/2006 07:34

all of mine had cradle cap medium-bad. Middle one the worst & he does have very mild excema, but generally doesn't bother him too much. other 2 no probs at all

throckenholt · 20/03/2006 07:44

all of mine had bad cradle cap (in thick hair so you didn't see it much !). No allergies so far (only 4.5 and 3) - but there is a history of allergy, eczema and asthma in DH's family.

FrannyandZooey · 20/03/2006 07:57

Ds has cradle cap on and off, no allergies or eczema so far.
