Testicles

I should probably ask dh this but he's currently snoring on the sofa & I've been wondering about it so will ask here.

Ds is nearly 6 and was giggling about his 'marbles' earlier. I asked what he meant and he said 'the marbles that are inside the back of my willy' He showed me by squeezing his scrotum and there appeared two 'marbles' (presumably testicles)

Now I thought that little boys just had an empty sack until puberty when the testicles 'descend' prompting all the other changes. Are they there before this? Furthermore he said that 'sometimes they're there and sometimes they disappear' so do they go up and down?

Sorry if this sounds a ridiculous question, I think I missed Biology the day we had this lesson at school.

They are there from birth, they can go up and down, not sure what age they should 'stay down' thoughSmile

Testicles normally descend into the scrotum before birth. It is one of the things that is checked in a new born. If not present, they will be checked again at about the four month point, and if still not descended then treatment options will be discussed.
