oooh how strange, was going to post the exact same message!
i have a 1 yr old with the same prob... it's horrible. so far we've had to have 2 of us pinning him down and forcing his eyes open :(

I'm going through this atm, dd has it both eyes too. I just have to literally hold her down and do it. It's not pleasant but I try to do it as quick as possible. I find wrapping her in a towel helps too!

You could try sitting on her (trapping both of her arms underneath your legs) while you use one hand to open her eye and the other to do the drop.

It sounds really cruel I know, but I found it was the only way to give my kids drops (for the nose or eyes!)

Its a total nightmare, she screams and screams tears rolling down her face nothing works , bribery, putting them in my eyes to show it doesn't hurt!!

When they are asleep.

HappyMumof2 · 18/03/2006 22:06

there's no kind way of doing it. I have massive hysterics from dd each time I do it, but it has to be done. She realises her eyes are getting better so is starting to grasp the concept that the drops are helping....

starlover · 18/03/2006 22:06

we get that too... and i think that if he cries then he must wash it all out?

cece · 18/03/2006 22:08

bribery with sweets Grin

wait till she is sleeping, the best time to administer drops is before she goes to bed or once she is asleep and before she wakes up. Pull the bottom lid down and out gently and pop tehm in. If you can get the cream it works better and quicke. you can put this on the eyelid whilst she sleep and it will melt in!

LaylaandSethsmum · 18/03/2006 22:24

Thanks for all the advice thought about doing it while shes asleep but don't know if i dare risk waking her and her having a hissy fit for hours!!Grin
