recurrent thrush

Hi, i was wondering if anyone else has had recurrent thrush and if so what helps?
I have been suffering for a long time with this, often having thrush once every month or so. It is really starting to effect my sex life. This as well as a very low sex drive is really putting a strain on my marriage.

Fluconazole helps initially but then it always comes back. I am thinking of seeing my GP for long term antifungal treatment. Also does anyone know if the link between a high sugar diet and recurrent thrush has been conclusively proven?

I'm not sure about the diet thing but my doctor told me to drink yakult as the bacteria helps balance things out again.

Not sure if it's true or not but it's always my first port of call if I get thrush.

Other thing such as wearing cotton underwear and looser trousers might help.

Your DP could have it and be passing it back to you.

Definitely go and see your GP and get something stronger, as it doesn't sound as if your treatment is getting rid of it properly.

When I had recurring thrush it turned out it was because I was type 2 diabetic so ask your doctor to test for this.

I had it every month for a year. I did all the things I was told to do, used the tablets once a month, put cream on, wore loose fitting cotton underwear, cut back alcohol, used soap free cleanser etc.
I tried live yoghurt with no success.
Every time it went away, I would have sex and it would be back with a vengeance the next day, sometimes even the same night. I'd feel a slight burning sensation and there it was. I thought my partner was reinfecting me but he had no symptoms. He was on antibiotics but I don't know if that affects men the same as women.

It went away eventually after a while of not having sex after it cleared up.

I have no idea if this helps.

Thrush can be a sign of any autoimmune disorder, not just diabetes. It could also indicate a thyroid problem, so it could be worth having a general check-up to rule out a variety of possible causes.
