What did your 6 week check involve?

I had my 6 week check today. It took all of 5 minutes and consisted of my GP asking if I was feeling ok (no more detailed questions into my psychological well being) and askin what contraception I was planning on using then giving me the number for the local family planning clinic to arrainge coil.
I felt this was a complete waste of my time and hers.

A friend of mine tells me hers involved a bloodpressure check, discussion of bowel/bladder function, a conversation about her mood and how she was coping and a vaginal examination. I just feel a little dismissed.

Was my check thorough enough? Or did my GP just dismiss me? What was involved in your 6 week check?

Mine was the same.
All that was discussed was contraception.
I had a joint appointment with ds. My bit took 3 mins, his took 5.

Thanks issimma. Glad it wasn't just me. She also told me it would be alright to go back on the combined pill while breast feeding. I thought that was a nono.

Could have been worse, my six week check with DS1 involved a breast exam, which I naively thought was normal, it was only when I wasn't 't offered one with DS2 or 3 that I realised it was a bit odd. The GP concerned left the practice a year or two later to become for a different career.

I think contraception was main topic of conversation both times, and you're right about the pill - needs to be minipill if you're bf.

Thanks. Sounds like I got 'the normal' check. It is however a complete waste of time. It could be done over the phone and saved us both the hassle.

wigglybeezer sorry about your experience. At least he's no longer in a position to do that to people.
