I feel unusually rubbish at the moment and I'm worried. Much more tired than usual and very slow brained / super clumsy. Yes my diet is not good - too many diet cokes and sugar and yes I don't get great sleep as I co- sleep with a demanding boob obsessed one year old BUT these things are not new things. I'm 40 in a month and part of me wonders if this is just me feeling my age a bit? Would a dr laugh at me if I went to see them with these very vague symptoms of feeling crap?

Vague symptoms of feeling crap warrant a trip, I reckon - you're sufficiently worried that you're posting here, so even if all that comes out of it is enough to allay the worries then it won't be wasted.

I bet the root of the issue is that you're 40 and you're not getting enough sleep. I had oldest kids when very young and breezed through the lack of sleep - the contrast when I had my youngest (late 30s) was startling. I was like a zombie. But - could be thyroid, could be hormonal issues. Online conjecture isn't enough - get yourself checked out.

Insist they check iron, B12 & thyroid at the very least. If you don't get any joy, don't be afraid to go back.

Also think carefully how you can describe the impact of these symptoms i.e. slow brained as in can't get the the end of a sentence without forgetting what you were saying or if your legs ache, is it so bad that you can't walk up the stairs in one go? This might help to put it in perspective that you're not 'just a bit tired'

Thanks both! I will go and get checked Smile
