Hurt ankle

I had an accident on 22 August and twisted my ankle. Went to work as normal. Got quite painful and I couldn't put weight on it so bandaged it up.

As I work seasonal work I didn't take any time off just carried on bandaging it and limping.

On 2nd August had a melt down about pain and went to local clinic to get looked at. They have X-rayed it thinking it was maybe fractured.
No fracture but dr reckons I have lost the liquid from my ankle joint and the nones are compressing on one another. He tried to write me off work for a week but that's not possible so he said crutches and no weight baring on it.

Has anyone suffered from a similar injury or knows about this to shed some on light on how long I can expect to be on crutches. I don't have a cast and he didn't tell me to go back for a check up.

I am in Greece so things are done differently here which is why I am asking for advice here.

Thanks.

4 weeks ish? But will heal quicker if you can stay off it and rest (understand why you can't though) but don't expect it to heal quickly. Often soft tissue injuries take weeks/months to feel totally back to normal whereas fractures can heal more quickly. Did the Dr say how long to use the crutches for? Sounds like a slightly unusual diagnosis.

I know. But when I do move my ankle I can feel it clicking.
He didn't say how long to use them.
It is feeling a lot better after not walking on it for a week.
