Anyone else had this when they quit smoking?

I stopped smoking in November (been a smoker for about 9 years) and while I feel much better for it, I seem to be catching every cold and bug that goes around. I was never ever poorly before, I hadn't had a day of sick in about five years, but since stopping smoking it seems my immune system is not as effective and I keep getting colds, tummy bugs, etc. I can't understand why as I thought it would be a real boost to my health to quit the ciggies. I'm wondering if I should be taking vitamins (I have a healthy diet and active lifestyle). Has anyone else experienced this when you stopped smoking, and how did you combat it?

Thanks

yes, my dh has. He has given up recently and he has had every cold, sick bug, chest pains! you name it, he's had it. You will feel better for it soon, I gave up when I was pg so can't really say how I was. Trouble is, I am a silly stupid smoker again. DON'T GIVE IN WHATEVER YOU DO!!!!!otherwise you get double whammy, you feel ill because you smoke and to top it all, feel a complete idiot for starting again. Good on you, keep going. I wish I did!

My friend stopped smoking and seemed to catch everything, perhaps it's because your body is trying to mend what smoking did so your imune system is low but i don't know if that is true. Well done for stopping, wish i could, well i can but still making excuses,

Absolutely, I had the exact same thing, and ex-p coughed up huge amounts of revolting brownish stuff Shock Your immune system is shagged plus your body is trying to rid itself of all the toxins. Take lots of vitamins and stick it out, it will get better and you will be healthier than ever before.
