DD and the contraceptive pill

DD who is 16 takes Microgynon to help with her endometriosis.
She came home today saying her period has started early as she hasn't been taking her pill since thurs as she can't find them.
Putting aside my desire to shout at her bloody loudly i have realised that i have no idea what we do in these circumstances. Does she tart taking a new pck today and take all the pills in it or does she wait til her period finishes and then start taking them?
Thank you to anybody who can save me a phone call to NHS Direct as this needs to be sorted now so she doesn't end up in bed in agony for days when she has her next period.

It depends on whether contraception is needed. If you start into the next pack it will result in a shorter, lighter period but I think you'd have to use a backup contraceptive for at least the remainder of the pack.

No contraception is not needed which is why I was unsure.

Right so she starts a new pack today and takes it to the end like she would normally do.

Thank you to both of you as I now don't need to spend the evening waitin for the phone to ring Smile.

Bloody kids! I'm sure they get worse as they get older! Grin
