Weird period problems. TMI alert!

My periods are usually regular, around 26-28 day cycle. I'm 44.

I had a rotten cold last month that turned into horrendous sinusitis and I felt really awful for two weeks. AF was due pretty much as I was starting to feel better, but - nothing. It finally started eleven days late, but never really developed past the slimy-red-icky stage i.e. I haven't had a proper 'bleed'. It was just enough to need to wear my mooncup.

Ten days later and it was tailing off, I stopped wearing my cup (had taken a break after five days and sterilised it, I didn't wear it for 10 days straight), and the next day (Saturday) I got insane itching - yep, thrush. Bought a pessary, put it in that night, and yesterday the sort-of-bleeding started again. So here I am, wearing a sanitary towel because I don't want to trigger another bout of thrush, and today I've got a bit of a tummy upset and a touch of diarrhoea.

WTF is going on with my body? My first thought is menopause, but it seems a bit odd.

Strange goings on indeed.

I guess it could be the starting of menopause? I am the same age as you, but as of yet nothing strange going on for me.

Or - could you be pregnant??

Bloody hell, I couldn't be! Shock

Didn't even occur to me. With the bleeding - surely not?

I was going to say POAS just from your thread title. I still say it Grin

But I suppose menopause early beginnings could work too.

I had my youngest child when I was 43
Just sayin

oopslateagain · 03/09/2012 19:48

Wow you all scared me there. Just POAS and it's -ve. Good thing, considering the amount of wine I put away on my birthday last week!

So - not pg.

Oh well

You should talk to your GP about any changes in bleeding though. Hope it all settles soon.
