Stupid Question i know but how do you check your breasts for lumps etc?

Reason is just found out a girl i was in school with had a lump in her breast (luckily wasnt cancer), but it still scared us all as most of us stated that we dont even check (we're all 23-24, thinking, it wont happen to us as we're too young). We do know it can happen, so my DH wants me (and him) to check more often. But i dont have a clue how to do it really.
Thanks

lie on your back, with your arm raised up, rest your hand on your head or pillow. Starting in the armpit, with three fingers close together, press gently with a motion not unlike playing the piano!! Smile, starting with ring finger first. Work your way into the centre of the breast, not forgetting nipple area, then repeat over the top of the breast and then again for the lower part. By moving the fingers this way, you will feel anything move under the skin.

Also, in the mirror, check for unevenness, changes in shape or size, dimpling or lumpiness as well as discharge from the nipple.

hope this helps!

PS - very sensible question!

only thing is, if you check and you find - don't panic!!! lots of different kinds of lumps. I've had them for years on and off all of them harmless, good luck!

Thx for that.
