Hi
I have Googled this and found a few other women have experienced it but no 'answers' iyswim.

Last night sitting on the sofa it felt as if a heavy period was starting suddenly. I'm not having periods while I take a 3 month course of Esmya to reduce the size of my fibroid.

I stood up and fluid gushed out of my fanjo (about half a pint or more I'd say). It felt just like waters breaking (have had 3 DC}. The fluid had no smell or obvious colour. TMI but I saved the soaking pants till this morning and they still have no smell so def not wee.

I don't want to go to the out of hours doctor so I'll wait till Tues to go to my own practice but I wondered if anyone here has ideas about what this could be. I'm quite freaked out about it, re what is the fluid and will it happen again. I had absolutely no control over it and I'm going out today so def don't want it happening again.

So glad I’ve found this post! This has happened to me several times over the past few years - and twice in the past week!

At first I thought I was setting myself but it doesn’t smell and usually happens when I’ve literally just been to the loo as I’m about to exercise.

I have. DD (10) and DS (7). I’m on my second Mirena coil - and had a smear test earlier today Then the ‘waters breaking’ happened this evening at an exercise class. Not sure if the coil or smear have anything to do with it. I usually get the gushing wetness when I’m exercising and have taken to wearing a pad and some modibodi period knickers which most of the time I don’t need as it’s fine! Don’t want to take any chances though as when I do get the fluid gushing there’s a lot!

Most embarrassingly it happened at a ceilidh on Saturday and I had to run out sharpish.

So relieved to read I’m not the only one. I’ll book a doc’s appointment when the coronavirus craziness is over!!

Teessidewino79 · 25/03/2020 04:24

This has just happens to me. Can't go to GP as have a cold and the Coronavirus is currently about so I'm self isolating. It's just happened tonight, I did notice I'd leaked quite a bit during the day yesterday and the day before I had a bit of discharge, just a tiny bit, perhaps like but jot running like normal so am wondering if I have an infection but no idea now I've had this gush of water overnight. I hope this is not a sign of things to come and getting old 😫

DryToast · 30/03/2020 14:35

I’m so glad I found this thread. This been happening to me for the past month on and off. I thought I had BV so had two courses of antibiotics but I’m still getting discharge and these episodes of leakage. Once it happens I suffer all day with leakage and then it seems to lessen after 24 hours.
There is no smell, itchy or burning etc. It’s completely odourless.
I can’t get an appointment for the doctors either but it’s driving me potty.

I’ve been having mild cramping on and off but I’m breastfeeding my 1 year old so I haven’t had a period yet, I wasn’t sure if it was connected?

Hi, I'm only 22 but this is the only thing I can find online.
About 2 weeks ago, I woke up and realised that my knickers and trousers were wet. I was confused as it wasn't urine, discharge or period blood. The liquid was thin, clear and odourless, also it was cold so must have happened earlier in the night. There was a lot of it as it leaked through my bedsheets to my mattress. I also woke up desperate for a wee.
I was quite freaked out, but I didn't feel unwell and the only symptom was some cramping on my lower sides (I was midcycle and ovulating). I had done some stomach workout the day before.
New Zealand was already in lockdown but the doctor on the phone made me an appointment with a nurse. They did a pregnancy test (which came back negative) and a UTI test which came back inconclusive.
I've never been aware of having any cysts, I've also never been pregnant or been on any contraceptive.
It hasn't happened again and I haven't any symptoms apart from period-pain related things.
I'm just confused and want to make sure it isn't anything serious

Talsw · 20/04/2020 23:34

Just an update, contacted a gyno explaining what happened and he said:

"the cervix has the capacity to produce a lot of fluid, particularly around the time of ovulation. This is the usual source of non urine fluid leakage from the vagina. If it is a one off event or once a month then there is no need to sorry. If there is bleeding or the frequency and quantity increase you should see a doctor. Check cervical smears are up to date."

Hope this reassures other.

Same happened to me. I am in or post menopause. Went to the bathroom at 2.10 am and at 3.20 am I woke up in a puddle around my butt. First thought I was sweating but only my butt was wet and the puddle was localized only there. No pain and the liquid had no smell at all. So wyf???

DryToast · 29/04/2020 19:44

It’s definitely something connected with hormones and it says online changes in discharges are associated with the menopause. Sorry to ask an invasive question but are you getting discharge during the day too or just these infrequent episodes? I only ask as I’m having having very acidic discharge to the point it burns but all the swabs came back negative for anything. To think I just have to live with this now is depressing.

HazelVenom · 10/08/2020 10:14

Did u ever go to the gyno? I'm curious bc this just happened to me, I haven't been to a gyno in almost 10 years. I would like to go but I'm currently on my menstrual cycle. I was really worried about this, my discharge was a little bloody unlike everyone else's but then again I'm on my monthly. Can u confirm a cyst burst?

Eyeroll2 · 05/12/2020 12:31

Exact same thing happened to me last night! ...and I ate ice cream!
I have had the coil fitted a year ago and haven't had any more periods but now feeling slight period pain (but no period).
P.s ...how difficult is this to find a username (eyeroll)
Is this worth telling the doctor about?
So glad to see other people in the same boat and this site was the only place I have had any sort of answers so thank you.

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 11/01/2021 23:02

Same thing happened to me last night :( not on any birth control though. Did anyone else see their GP yet?

Jenvb · 24/01/2021 19:55

This happened to me yesterday

NZGAL77 · 15/05/2021 17:13

Hi I just woke up wet drenched clothes and mattress. I recall this happened twice before but years apart. I have had 5 kids all teens now I'm in my 40s. My smears up to date. I am on no contraceptives. I have never leaked urine even when coughing or sneezing as I did my pelvic floor exercises after each child. I had my cords tied off after my last child was born 12 years ago. I havent had sex for about 7 months. Definitely embarrassed as I had to wake up my son whose 17 to sleep by him he has a double bed.He was like what happened!? I said I wet the bed. Yikes!! Hes like okay and here I am on here figuring out what the heck is going on. I'm glad it's common I feel safer. I'm checking me ovaries I'm making an appointment next week and I will come back on here with the outcome. Cheers ladies stay safe and wear a thick pad whilst out and about for extra protection ya never know.

Olieolieoxen · 03/06/2021 03:42

I had this happen. I did have a nabothian cyst on my cervix and I think that busted

Mauihawk1 · 03/07/2021 21:58

I have had the same gush of water about once a year, it happened again last night. I know I'm not pregnant, I'm in menopause I have two grown kids. Same thing a gush of water usually when I'm asleep and its not pee. I has no smell almost like warm water?

15jane · 24/08/2021 15:58

I see this thread is quite old now but I wonder if there have been any developments? I leak a watery fluid from my ‘fanjo’ too, all the time. I have to wear a tampon all day, every day, even though I don’t have periods because I have a mirena coil. I went to the dr a few years ago and she told me I was incontinent. She said the liquid couldn’t be coming from anywhere else. It clearly it is, because a tampon stops it. Sometimes there is so much fluid that the tampon can’t stop it. It makes life quite difficult; even just going for a walk, let alone trying to exercise! I wonder if the mirena coil and it’s hormones trick the body into creating amniotic fluid? I just don’t know what else it could be. Any ideas?

MrsT2016 · 06/09/2021 09:31

This happened to me last night.
I woke up around 4am needing the loo, and when I tried to stand up, a flood poured from my vagina. It was definitely not pee. I went to the loo and washed my legs. There was no smell at all. Husband asked if I was ok and I told him what happened. I’d have preferred to have peed the bed because at least I would know what had happened. I am 33 with children. The youngest being 9.
The only way I can describe it is like waters breaking. I am so freaked out. Scared to go out in case it happens again.

Tandymaylor · 07/09/2021 09:11

@fussarse
What did the docs say only this has literally just happened to me im not on any contraception and I'm 56 so definitely not pregnant! Confused xx

Squid2 · 14/09/2021 09:11

This literally just happened to me. Not pregnant, no pain, no bath! Just woke up drenched, soaked the bed got up and kept running out! I had no control over it, it just kept running out. Didn’t smell like pee and definitely wasn’t coming out of the pee hole because I sat on the toilet and after I had peed. I don’t know what the heck just happened. I’m definitely calling to make a appointment to see what’s going on. So odd!

hello12345672 · 09/06/2022 11:41

10 YEARS LATE but this just happened to me today, TWICE. Im 15 and I was googling it all day and this was the only thing that came up that was what I experienced. Did you ever find out hwat happened? I’m a bit worried but I don’t think it’s anything too serious?? I don’t know.

hello12345672 · 09/06/2022 11:43

If you find out what it is, please tell me

1234teagan · 03/08/2022 21:39

Hello! I’ve experienced something like this just now and was trying to find out what it was. I don’t feel like telling my parents cause that’s just not the types of convocations I have with them. I have experienced this before and I was so confused and thought it was just wee and I had been so tired I hadnt realised I did it. But this time I needed the toilet so I went and had a wee, came back downstairs and a few minutes later I felt loss of liquid dripping down my legs. It also has no smell and I’m definitely not pregnant as I havent had sex before. I was wondering if you ever found out what it could be so I could prevent this from happening in public?

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 02/12/2022 06:02

Did anyone find out what this is? I've just woken up with a 'waters burst' type gushing as I went to the loo. Definitely wasnt urine. Am 37 with no mirena coil, just one small fibroid.

ScaredSceptic · 03/12/2022 10:47

I've just come across this thread whilst perusing the health board and I've had a massive lightbulb moment. About five months ago I woke up with a start one morning as I felt a warm and wet sensation and I honestly thought I was bleeding. I leapt out of bed and was so bewildered looking at the wet patch on the sheets, then realised it was still coming out onto the floor as I stood there, but I couldn't feel it.

I ran to the bathroom horrified that I had wet myself. It was the most confusing thing, I couldn't understand why I hadn't been able to feel that I was peeing, I was worried I'd somehow lost sensation in my bladder/urethra. I mean, you can feel when you're peeing and you can control it. But this just came out of me with no sensation, and I had no control over it.

The liquid was clear and had no smell but it just didn't occur to me at the time that it could be anything other than urine. I've never had children so haven't experienced waters breaking.

I'm 48 and during the past year have started to get symptoms of peri. The night before this incident I'd had some abdominal cramps. My mind is blown right now thinking I may not have pee'd myself after all!

Heidi38 · 15/12/2022 06:50

This has been happening to me for around 6 months and only on my first day of my period. I am 48 and wondering if my body is starting to change. There is no pain, smell, I just gush usually when I’m walking and I come back completely drenched. The worst was last Friday, went through 3 lots of clothes. I’m not pregnant or on any birth control or any meds. It does only happen on my first day of period, I bleed in between then the day after bleed and on the 3rd day start to get lighter and stop by day 4. I went to the doctors yesterday, she swobbed me, said my cervix looks normal and sent me for bloods. She hasn’t ruled out an ultrasound, so am just waiting for results. Feel fine and there’s no pain so hopefully just body changing as getting older! Will update the results.

Heidi38 · 15/12/2022 06:52

PS, I’ve had 2 children and I waters always breaks before labour, this feels exactly like that with zero control!
