DS2 was very sick yesterday. I cleaned as best as I could but the carpet still stinks. I need to go to Sainsburys later. what can I buy to clean it properly and get rid of the smell? I used pine disinfectant (all I had under the sink) then Dettol antibacterial spray afterwards. But it doesn't smell of either of those things now.... And the carpet is still sopping wet :( Sorry told you it was TMI. But can anyone help? please???

I asked this a few weeks back, everyone suggested bicarb of soda. Sprinkle on and leave overnight then hoover up in the morning. Worked for me Smile

oh and buy some 1001 carpet cleaner too

See if you can hire one of those rug doctor machines if the smell doesn't go after bicarb.

Really stupid question but where in Sains do I buy bicarb of soda and is it like crystals? sorry Blush

It's in the baking section - it's a fine white powder usually used in baking! It sucks up odours because the powder is so fine you see :)

sorry he was so sick...DS did this not long ago... now our carpet's covered in sudocrem!

Ok right sprinkled a tub of bicarb of soda and left overnight. Have hoovered it all up this morning and yes, the 'smell' does seem to have gone. But what do I do about the white stain on the carpet??? Will that just go in time? The carpet is very old so I'm not that worried if it leaaves a bit of a stain (preferable to what was there before...). DH says I probably used too much bicarb of soda...
