Warning TMI: Coil

I have a Mirena Coil (over two years now). I'm 48 and probably perimenopausal. I've noticed thought that in the last two months or so, I 've been having that clear stretchy vaginal discharge that's usually associated with fertile periods in a cycle. I don't have periods..havent for over a year..the coil was still in place during a recent scan.

So, I gues my question is..does anyone else have the fertile mucous while their coil's in place. I thought it secreted hormones to stop that happening..or at least to stop you being fertile??

I'm 41 and I've had the same coil for exactly 1 year, periods are light to non-existant and yes occasionally I get the fertile mucas too.

It doesn't suprise me, you still ovulate on the coil it's just that it makes the conditions in your womb unfavourable for egg plantation but there is never a guarentee....

thanks Tread.. I thought it was supposed to make the cervical mucous thicker and unpenetrable for sperm to get through. If it's not doing its job in that way, might it also not be doing its job effectively in thinning out the womb lining to deter implantation? Just a thought...
