apple!!!?? My 18 month old daughter was quite slow to eat finger food. She would just hold it for ages rather than actually eat it! She has only just started to eat bits of apple a few days ago. But we have noticed since a few days ago from time to time she will get a welt like rash on her cheeks. The thing is within 15 mins it will be completley gone!

We are not sure what is causing this so I have switched her back to tinned milk. I know she is probably considered to old for this but we have tried 3 times since she turned one to switch. The first time she got really bad constipation so we stopped. The second time she got gastrointeritis(not sure of spellin :-/)...so we stopped..now this time she has this rash thing going on. I am not sure if each time something went wrong with her it was just a coincidence???

Anyway so I cut of cows milk and still gave her apple to see if she still had a reaction. Yesterday within 15 mins of giving her a little apple she got a couple of welts but they went down in about ten minutes.

When she was younger she had apple puree all the time so i dont understand it...not sure what else could be causing it. I suppose the next step is to cut out the apple and see what happens then.

Has anyone's little one reacted to apple??

Thanks for reading :-)

xx

I was talking to someone the other day who is allergic to fruit with pips, so it's possible I suppose!

I know a family with 2 children who have various allergies including some fruits. The oldest has a nut allergy and the youngest has dairy allergy but both have allergies to some fruits so it is possible I guess.

Thanks for the responses :-) Does anybody know how u go about getting an allergy test? Do you just do it through your normal GP? I would like to know for sure what, if anything in paticular , is causing the rash to come up. I saw a test once where they put various things on the skin and see which causes a reaction. Do they do this with children?

Thanks again :-)

My dd (3) gets this from cherry tomatoes, she loves them but as soon as she has one her face and hands get all blotchy and itchy.

I asked my GP for an allergy test for her last week and he's told me they are very reluctant to do tests on children due to adverse reactions. I'm not sure if this is just my area so it could be worth asking your GP.

I think Holland and Barrett do them, and some of the alternative therapy centres

Thanks:-) I will try holland and barrett and also ask my gp. x
