Have just been quoted £1700 per annumn for level 2 health care for 2 adults and 3 children with Bupa.

Anyone insure with them and whats the competition like?

Yes - we pay around £1,400 for me, dh, ds and dd -with Bupa.

fairyjay · 10/03/2006 18:19

Should also say that for us it's been worth every penny. Ds is having on-going treatment in London, which would have cost far more than our subscriptions, were we not covered by Bupa.

I'm afraid I've got no scruples where my kids care is concerned!

Cam · 10/03/2006 18:21

Yes thanks but luckily its part of dh's pay package.

cori · 10/03/2006 18:23

I pay about £1200 for 2 adults and 1 child, ( 2nd child free) with Norwhich Union on there 'Trust care six' policy.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 10/03/2006 19:23

We have - not Bupa though. It's through my ex-employers and is £50 a month for 2 adults and 3 kids. So seems pretty cheap incomparison tp others but TBH I don't know what the level of cover is like.

I think the company is Exeter Friendly or similar.

WickedViperWitch · 10/03/2006 19:40

A friend told me yesterday they have Bupa with her job and she pays another £100/month to cover another adult, her dh and 3 children = £1,200 so £1,700 doesn't sound too bad to me.

WickedViperWitch · 10/03/2006 19:41

should have been another comma there, I meant her dh was the other adult, not that there was another adult AND her dh!

Carmenere · 10/03/2006 19:44

We have it but I don't see why as I'm from Ireland and the NHS is so much better than the health service there. But dp swears that it is worth the money and I believe him as money is really tight for us atm yet he still makes this a priority.

Earlybird · 10/03/2006 19:46

I have private health care through WPA - which I kept when I quit my job. I didn't shop for comparative rates, and think I should, as the rates quoted here sound reasonable compared to what I'm paying.

By the way - maybe I'm dim, but don't understand the "MN suicide" part of the thread title?

Passionflower · 10/03/2006 19:50

We've got WPA gold cover though DH's work. Can't remember how much the subs are but more like 3X what your Bupa off the top of my head (for 2 adults and 4 children).

It's essential here though - no NHS

anteater · 11/03/2006 12:20

So only 5 have health insurance?!

Earlybird, have a look \link{http://mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=150174&stamp=060228095412\here}

Yep all 4 of us but part of DPs benefits package at work. Bupa I think - am seeing guy on Tuesday about having tonsils out and have had wisdom teeth out and I would say sell the family silver to get Private Insurance it is so worth it!!

pindy · 11/03/2006 12:25

we are with WPA - 2 adults 2 kids, about £1400, excellent cover, but have been with them for years if that makes a difference I don't know

have used it several times and therefore well worth it in my opinion

Cam · 12/03/2006 11:00

Ours is with BUPA and I have used it to have wisdom teeth removed.

mojomummy · 12/03/2006 11:27

I have, I pay about £25 for me, Dh & DD. This is through work though.

Seems like I got a good deal Grin, especially as I am always using it !

vickiyumyum · 12/03/2006 11:38

ours is through dh's work so not sure how much it costs, the only thing i'm not covered for is maternity care because i had had a section before the cover was taken out, but still get some money when the baby is born to compensate (not much about £150-£200 but better than a kick in the teeth LOL!) ours is with norwich union.

Elibean · 12/03/2006 11:50

I've got the lowest PPP one, dh has Norwich Union (much cheaper, and just as good), and we really should change and get a family one now: interested to see what others recommend.
