Sinusitis - I can't breathe!

I got a cold almost two weeks ago. I am so fed up of having a blocked nose and a stuffy head!

I used Sudafed nasal spray for the first five days, but then stopped. I still have a blocked nose, though it's slowly getting better. I know you should only use the spray for 5 days to stop the 'rebound' effect, but I haven't used it now for over a week - is it safe to start using it again?

I just want to breathe. Angry

Have you tried boots own brand decongestant tabs without paracetamol? I find they really do help when I'm particularly bunged up. they're in a turquoise and yellow packet and you ask for them over the counter. other than that karvol /vicks etc... good luck!

Thanks kitchen I have used the normal decongestant tabs, and I'm going through Olbas oil by the bucketload. NHS Direct say sinusitus lasts up to 2 1/2 weeks so I guess I just have to wait - and suffer!

I use this quite a bit as my sinuses drive me bats.

Carpe I have that, it does help a bit but makes me jump out of my skin when it squirts - it's COLD! Grin

If it's sinusitis rather than just being bunged up, go to your GP for antibiotics.

chocolateteabag · 15/08/2012 18:35

Have you tried rinsing your sinuses? I got a sinus rinse thing from Amazon from Neilmed link here
It cleared up my last bout of sinusitis in a couple of days. It's a bit weird but worth a try if you are struggling!

chocolateteabag · 15/08/2012 18:38

Sorry meant to add that I had tried anti biotics for the last bout before doing some research on here and trying the rinse
It's like a neti pot but as you squeeze the saline up your nose I think it's a bit easier. It's a bit horrid seeing all the gunk come out but in a good way
