My mum has spinal stenosis and she is due for an op for spinal fusion in oct this year, she is in agony and I have contacted a private hospital re getting an epidural steriod injection to ease the pain while she awaits the operation, has anyone had this injection before and did it work?

Hello! I have spinal stenosis, as well as other problems with my spine such as incomplete spinal cord injury, 3 past burst fractured vertebrae, spondylothesis and disc problems.
I tried facet joint injections and nerve root block which didn't help reduce my pain. My spasms were very slightly less.
I'm awaiting my 3rd spine op.
I take morphine and fentanyl for pain. It reduces it slightly but I'm still in agony :-(

My mum has spinal stenosis, and had the injecyions 3 times. Unfortunatly, they didn't work for more than a few days for her

oh dear, that does not sound too hopeful, she has increased her medication which is helping a little, I think she wants to try it anyway, however as it is private it may cost quite a lot, not sure exactly how much yet until her consultant confirms what exact injection would be suitable.

My dad has spinal stenosis.. He too had the Injections but they really didn't do much for more than a few days either. He had his operation last year to relieve the pressure and is much much better than he has been for years. Not 100% cured but better.
