Headache question

Have always suffered from migraines and headaches, since a teenager. However, in the last couple of months I've been getting a particular type of headache which is mostly in my left eye and combined with a very stiff neck - so far, so tension headache...but I also get really, really hungry, to the point where I just seem to want to keep eating and if I stop, I feel sick.

Any ideas? Any suggestions as to what foods might be good to have in this situation? I've been eating constantly for two days and I still have a headache and I'm still ravenous!

Tia.

Have you tried Syndol?

Always works a treat for me.

Make sure you aren't eating anything processed, high sugar, high protein etc.

Syndol is great - but if anything it makes me even more hungry! Thanks for replying - I have eaten my bodyweight in millionnaire's shortbread this afternoon: probably not the best choice!

Have you tried a low carb diet to help with your migraines? The link between the headaches and the hunger might be low blood sugar caused by eating too many carbohydrates. Eating a high carb diet (which is the diet recommended by the government) leads to a spike in blood sugar, which leads to the pancreas realeasing lots of insulin, which leads to low blood sugar, which leads to hunger and possibly headaches. This is probably counterintuitive but the only way to prevent low blood sugar (other than a glucose drip) is to stop eating high carb food - your body is perfectly capable of producing the small amounts of glucose that it actually needs without getting any carbs from the diet.

Thank you - that's interesting. I'm a vegetarian though, so not sure I'd do v well with low-carbs. Could be worth a shot though.

Have a look at this vegetarian low carb thread.
