Should I be worried ? (TMI)

Over the past 5 months, my periods have dwindled to almost nothing.

Day 1 red blood but not much, day 2 red to start then starts getting pinker, then yucky brown for a couple of days.

GP didn't seem bothered - but also didn't really want to talk about it. When I asked if it was the menopause she was really dismissive and said that the average age was 52 so it was unlikely to be so soon - I'm 48 Confused

She gave me a chart to fill in - the instructions say do a large blob for days when I need at least 2 towels, and x for lighter days. Well, if we were just going for quantity and not grossness, I wouldn't need to change the towel over the whole period!

PMT seems better, and only get a little pain on first day - used to be major pain for 2 days, and evil, could commit manslaughter PMT for a week beforehand.

Any ideas?

48 not too young to be starting into menopause at all. I would ask them to do blood tests to find out (if it would change how you manage things) Ie if you wouldn't want HRT or anything, but it would be good to know. You may want to try HRT if you get other symptoms too.

You may want to ask them if you should be doing anything to protect your bones as well. I would suspect that it may be menopausal changes TBH.

No other symptoms. WIth my maths hat on - surely if 52 is an average then it means that there are as many people under the age of 52 as over it!

I hadn't thought about bones, so might go back and see another doctorr - I was so not impressed with this one!
