Pain after Mirena insertion

Had one fitted yesterday lunchtime and I'm still getting crampy pains over 24 hours later. Is this normal? had an endometrial biopsy done at the same time which I guess won't have helped. Anyone had something similar?

I felt kind of dull achy - usually over the counter painkillers helped and I bled mildly for a few days. It settled down fine though.

Yep mine took almost two weeks to settle and then kept making itself known for up to a month. Had it in for 5 yrs and honestly it was brilliant

Sounds very similar to when I had mine done last month.

Should settle down over the next couple of days. Take it easy though, no heavy duty stuff. I was advised not to go to the gym until the following week.

I pulled my last one out as I felt like I was in proper labour afterwards, I actually screamed in a taxi. Blush

Is it like this or just dull cramps? I think I had dull cramps for about a month after my first and then it totally settled.

Thanks - that's very reassuring. I can cope with the pain if I know it's normal. It's also good to hear some positive experiences of the Mirena - you read so many horror stories ( really must stop googling it!).

Schrodingers- no really not too severe and I don't notice it much when I'm busy. Just in the evenings when I'm sitting here on my own worrying.

It is brilliant once it settles and if it isn't bothering you too much just now I think all is probably normal. :)

Good excuse for Wine!

Yes, I have been self medicating with wine!
