When to go back to GP?

About 3 weeks ago I developed abdomen pain which gp said was UTI. I took a weeks worth of antibiotics and felt a little better but not 100% so went back. I had blood tests which confirmed an infection but the gp said it did look as though it was getting better.

last week I did feel better but over the weekend the pain has come back with avengence! I have no other symptoms - just very painful abdomen (lower and to the right.)

I don't want my gp thinking I'm a hypocondriac but thought it would have gone by now. When would you go back?

I would go back asap if the pain has got worse. It could be that you need a different antiobiotic. Has your GP ruled out appendicitis?

i thought if it was appendicitis it would have burst/ ruptured by 3 weeks. How long can you have it for?

Not entirely sure (not a medic), but I believe it can "grumble" for some time and sometimes symptoms can come an go for months / years. If the pain dies down and has then come back was a vengeance, I would want appendicitis ruled out to be honest.

Also, even if it is "only" a UTI, it sounds very painful and the sooner you can get started on the right antibiotics, the better (speaking as a sufferer of UTIs that haven't always responded to the first line of antiobiotics).

I would go back asap, you're not overreacting by being concerned that an infection which wasn't fully resolved by abs seems to have got worse.
