1st Jabs today - DD has been screaming the place down since

Can anyone tell me if it's normal for babies to react to their 8 week jabs by screaming the place down for hours afterwards. My DD is usually an absolute angel who never cries, even when she's hungry she just kinda groans a wee bit. Today she had her first lot of jabs and since we got home from the docs around 4pm she has been inconsolable. Every time I put her down she's screaming blue murder. Help! Is this normal? Will it last?

Have you given her any calpol? Check the bottle, but they can have a very small dose after their jabs.

Yes I gave her 2.5ml about 5pm then another 2.5 ml about 10pm as the doc advised.

Lots of cuddles and feeding if she wants to... also if you are worried call the doc.

They do scream a lot after jabs, but tbh I can't remember what is normal.

chap was very hingy, he screamed every time I so much as looked the othr way. try to keep calm your self they can sense yoiur anxiouty. check hr injection site to make sure its not inflammed, if not plenty cuddles and soothing.

Thanks for the advice ladies. Thankfully I seem to have had my wee angel returned to me today. Here's hoping that's the reaction over with. Does anyone have any info on alternative ways of vaccinating that don't cause such a painful reaction?

the first is always the worse, some vaccines like polio use to be given as drops but its not done commonly anymore. I dont think there is much of an alternative to it.
However as they get older it does to seem to be as bad, the chap was awful after his first ones, by his third I didn't even have to give calpol.
I suppose when you think about it you have this baby who has never wanted for anything and never really known pain, Its just been a big fright, but their memories are so short, it would not do her much harm. IMO what comes of not having vaccinations can be so much worse!

sorry ment to say glad she is feeling better, you did a great job comforting her and nursing her all night, it is hard!
